Your doctor may tell you there's a chance you may need surgery if your herniated disc does not improve over time. Do not be discouraged, because the fact of the matter is that there are many different treatments that can occur if you have a herniated disc. Many of them have to do with your personal health and how it affects you. It may also be a matter of disk position of the spine, which would determine the best treatment plan. For most people, however, the pain that comes whenever the disk is first a break, usually goes to a certain extent, after a week or two. With a bit of rest and take it easy for a bit, you might be able to effectively than most of the symptoms after a few months. For those who are really suffering from a herniated disk pain, however, a few months can feel almost like a lifetime.
There may be some things that can be done to speed the process along and ensure that recovery time is as small as possible. More than likely, your doctor will give you medicine that will mask the pain you feel. Unfortunately, it does little to help with the problem, simply make it easier for you to be able to bear it. Other forms of treatment such as hot and cold compresses, electrical stimulation and traction may also be recommended to help this problem. Rear wheel covers and does not help relieve the pressure so you can start recovering and removing a lot of pain. If you happen to have hired a traction device, it is wise to use such a short time before retiring to sleep at night for maximum benefit.
There are other things you can make specific stretching exercises or other forms of exercise that will significantly reduce the pain you feel now. This will also help, short of time you will be faced with difficulty. These important steps on the road back to health in the shortest time possible.
