Just because you feel a burning sensation in the muscles, this is not the time you want just ask and do nothing. Hoping and waiting for the pain disappears. This heat and cold can help muscle pain.
Medications such as acetaminophen, NSAIDs, and many kinds of anti-inflammatory, analgesic herbal or would be permitted only if the pain persists in the upper back muscles. What do you want to do is to try some of these to see if it helps with sore muscles. Now I feel that there is no relief in these tissues that bothers you, then now is the time to go to your doctor. It may be time to ask your doctor to prescribe medication or steroid injections.
